In winter, it provides immense warmth thanks to its high insulation capacity. In summer, however, the down fibers contract due to increased humidity, reducing both volume and heat retention. This natural adaptation to its environment is what makes eiderdown so special.
The harvesting of eiderdown is done in an ecologically sustainable and completely non-disruptive manner. In Iceland, the down is hand-collected from the abandoned nests of protected eider ducks and then carefully processed. This meticulous process contributes to its high value. Furthermore, eiderdown is known for its impressive longevity, lasting three to four times longer than other high-quality downs when properly cared for.
Please note that eiderdown naturally has a medium brown color, which is why the cover is made from silk in a natural tone.
